Busy Week Ahead

Dear Fifth Grade Parents,

Well, as we begin this second week of Advent, it looks like we have another busy week ahead of us.  For starters, there will not be Monday morning mass this week.  Instead we will be celebrating the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday at the 11:15 mass.  Please feel free to come join us on this Holy Day of Obligation.  Wednesday is our field trip to see, The Old Globe’s Production of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”.  We will be leaving at approximately 8:45 and return between 12:30 and 1:00.  Thursday and Friday should wrap up the week quietly with our regular scheduled classes.

Please be sure to review the Curriculum Update below to keep up to date on what we are learning in Fifth Grade.

Curriculum Update for the Week of December 7, 2015:

Religion:  Complete and review Chapter 9:  Confirmation and the parts of the Confirmation Mass;  Chapter 9 Test Thursday

Reading:  Watch “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” on Monday;  Read and discuss Holes:  Chapters 18-40 (Don’t worry, the chapters are very short);  complete comprehension activities

Social Studies:  Review Chapter 4;  Chapter 4 Test on Friday

Language Arts:  Transitive/Intransitive Verbs; Review Verbs Unit; Verbs Test next Tuesday;  Continue to work on Vocabulary Workshop Unit 5; Vocabulary Unit 5 Test next Monday

Have a fantastic week, everyone!  I am looking forward to a fun week filled with the hustle and bustle of the Advent Season.  Thank you for all you do to help make SMA a great place to learn.  Take care and God bless.
